The Ramon Ayala home, located across the street from City Hall, has one of the most brilliant displays in the city.
|
There are three homes next door to each other, where I am told
other Ayala family members live; the homes are all decorated equally
exquisitely. We were among the first arrivals after sunset
and when we walked by Ramon was outside working on lighting
maintenance. We talked with him a few minutes before fans
approached asking for an autograph. We were surprised to learn he
is an international celebrity. He is well known in Texas
and Mexico and people began crowding the street just to meet and have
their picture taken with him. |
Ayala with his band, Bravos del Norte, is known for his contributions in the norteño or conjunto
music genre and has won many Latin and American Grammy Awards in the category. He plays a big part in the Hidalgo Christmas light display every year. |
